Liquid diamonds is one of the newest and most premium cannabis extract formats available. The DAB BAR series from Dabwoods features liquid diamonds at the core of its 2.0 and 3.0 lines. This guide explains what liquid diamonds are, how they’re made, and why they represent a step up from standard cannabis distillate.

What Are Liquid Diamonds?

Liquid diamonds β€” also called THC-A liquid diamonds or diamond sauce β€” are a cannabis concentrate produced through a crystallisation and separation process. The name comes from the crystalline “diamond” structures that form during production, which are then reintroduced into terpene-rich oil to create a liquid form suitable for vape cartridges.

The result is a concentrate with very high THC concentration (often 90%+), combined with terpene-rich sauce that carries flavour and minor cannabinoids.

How Liquid Diamonds Are Made

The production process for liquid diamonds starts with high-quality cannabis extract, typically BHO (butane hash oil) or similar solvent-based extract. The extract is placed in conditions that allow THC-A to crystallise out of solution β€” a process that can take days to weeks. The resulting crystals (the “diamonds”) are separated from the surrounding terpene-rich oil (the “sauce”).

For vape cartridges, the diamonds are reintroduced into the sauce and sometimes further processed to achieve the right viscosity for reliable vape performance. The final product combines the high cannabinoid concentration of crystalline THC-A with the terpene complexity of the sauce.

Liquid Diamonds vs Standard Distillate

Standard distillate is refined through a distillation process to isolate cannabinoids. It typically reaches 85–95% THC but strips out most terpenes. Many distillates re-add botanical or cannabis-derived terpenes after processing.

Liquid diamonds typically achieve higher cannabinoid concentrations and retain more of the extract’s original terpene profile than distillate. The higher terpene content (from the sauce component) produces a richer, more complex flavour and a more nuanced effect profile.

Liquid Diamonds vs Live Resin

Both liquid diamonds and live resin are premium extract formats, but they prioritise different qualities:

  • Liquid diamonds prioritise cannabinoid concentration β€” very high THC percentage with good terpene retention
  • Live resin prioritises terpene authenticity β€” extracted from fresh-frozen plant material to capture the fullest possible terpene profile

DAB BAR uses liquid diamonds for its premium lines. Terpwoods uses live resin. Both are positioned above standard distillate in the Dabwoods range.
